Questions To Ask Before Booking A Room At A Bed And Breakfast Lodge

As a change of pace, you may have decided to stay at a bed and breakfast instead of in a regular hotel during your next vacation. However, if this is your first time staying at one of these lodges, you may not know what to expect. If so, ask the following questions to start gathering information before booking a room at a bed and breakfast lodge.

Do You Have Your Own Bathroom?

One of the first questions you may want to ask is about the bathroom situation. Do you have your own bathroom adjoining your room? Or, do you share a bathroom with another room or even an entire section?

Depending on the size of the bed and breakfast, you may have to share a bathroom. If the lodge used to be a person's home or estate, they may have been unable to accommodate individual bathrooms. You will need to decide if you are comfortable sharing a bathroom with strangers. However, if the bed and breakfast is a lodge designed and built specifically for its purpose, you may have your own bathroom. Knowing beforehand can help you prepare accordingly.

What Meals Are Included With the Booking Price?

When you plan on staying at a bed and breakfast, the name can cause you to expect that your room and breakfast are included in the price. However, you should first make sure that breakfast is indeed included in the booking price, as well as the types of foods they offer. Some may have a full home-cooked spread of food, while others may have a continental breakfast.

Also, ask if there are other meals that are offered, either included in the price or extra. Depending on the size of the facility, the amount of staff, and the package you select, some lodges do offer other meals. However, lunch and dinner may or may not be included. Knowing before you stay at the lodge can help you decide whether to purchase extra meals at the bed and breakfast or plan on eating elsewhere during the day and evening.

Asking the above questions before you book a room can help give you a better idea as to the environment of the lodge you plan to visit. While you are speaking with the representative from the bed and breakfast lodge, also ask about any additional amenities and events, as well as ask them about any other information you should know before checking in.
